As Artificial intelligence is turning out to be one of the most sought after technologies in all sectors, it is also proving to be a double-edged sword. AI is still in its early stages and can also cause great injury if it is not properly handled. Artificial intelligence can pose a danger to humans in many ways, and it is better to discuss these hazards now in order to predict and handle them in future.

AI could certainly be very risky, according to notable individuals such as legendary physicist Stephen Hawking and Tesla, SpaceX leader and innovator Elon Musk; Musk at one point compared AI to North Korean dictatorships. How harmful can artificial intelligence be?

Apart from the concern that autonomous arms could gain their own "mind," the risks that autonomous arms may pose to a person or government that does not value human life are more inevitable. AI future weapons are probably hard to dismantle or fight when deployed.

President Putin, of Russia said: "The future, not only for Russia, but also for all mankind is artificial intelligence. It has significant opportunities, but also difficult to forecast risks. Anyone who is the leader in this field will become the world's leader."

Privacy Invasion

You must be aware of the outrage regarding WhatsApp privacy updates... well it's not directly related to AI but if you see it from a privacy aspect they are the same. One can now track and evaluate each phase of a person online and as they go about their day-to-day operations. Cameras are almost everywhere, and algorithms for facial recognition recognize who you are.

In reality, this is the type of information that will power China's social lending scheme, which is supposed to give each citizen a personal score of 1.4 billion based on how they behave – items like jaywalking, smoking in non-tobacco environments and how long they spend playing video-spiels. If Big Brother looks at you and then decides on that basis, it is not just an infringement of privacy that he will easily transform to social injustice.

Lack of Openness

Most AI systems have been designed with so-called neural networks, which act as the engine. These systems are however less able to demonstrate their "motivation" for decision-making. The input and output are only shown. The device is too difficult. It is still necessary to be able to track the precise data that contributed to those decisions where medical or military decisions are concerned. How did the performance contribute to underlying thinking or reasoning? What knowledge has the model been used for training? What do you think of the model? We're in the dark at this moment generally.

Biased Algorithms

Logically, the framework would validate our prejudice when we feed our data sets with biased data. There are several examples of systems which are more at the detriment of racial minorities than the white population. While it can contribute enormously to the global economy, Artificial Intelligence can unfortunately help terrorists carry out fatal attacks. Many extremist groups are now using drones in other countries to plan out deadly attacks. Indeed, in 2016, ISIS perpetrated the first successful drone attack, which killed 2 Iraqis.

Terrorist groups have heightened their use of 21st-century technologies to create havoc and mass destruction. If AI continues to be weaponized, it can be a grave concern for mankind. At present, the threat is comparably low, but the possibility of AI use by terrorist groups to develop lethal autonomous weapons can dramatically increase the amount of mass destruction in modern cities.
